Ears flicked forward as Malakyte caught the sound of rushing water. "We're nearly there!" he cried, joyfully leaping into a trot. As he rounded the bend, there lay the familiar stone walkway, and the waterfalls cascading endlessly down, and the rainbow perpetually glimmering above it all.
Sighing gratefully, the gray stag walked up the path. He closed his eyes blissfully, a fine spray emanating from the falls onto his pelt. Oh, it was quite wonderful to be back home, no matter how long--or short--it had been home. Halting at the crest of the stone trail, he peered back at Amethyst, waiting for her so they could descend into their land together.

Auds caught the sound of the rushing water from the water, sounding like peaceful music to her ears. She paused for a moment, closing her orbs and letting the sound linger in her ears.
Realising that Malakyte was waiting for her, she broke into a jog, falling back into a walk as she walked along the path between the two, magnificent falls. She stopped next to him, turning her neck and nuzzling him softly. "It's good to be home," she said wistfully, finally glad that she had a home, where she could live and feel safe.

Malakyte nodded in fervent agreement as he cast a fond eye on the lush lands below. "Well, let's go and see if that bear's left, or taken up permanent residence," he said dryly. Delicate limbs carried him down to the beautiful meadow, and he once more halted to look around, this time much more wary. Muscles tensed as he listened to every twitter of birds, every creak of trees in the slight breeze.

Lithe legs carried the ashen vix forward, her crown tipped elegantly towards her neck. She paced next to Malakyte, testing the air for a scent of the bear.
Smelling nothing, she looked at the steed with her brown orbs through her thick forelock. "I can't smell anything, can you?" she asked, smiling excitedly.

Malakyte likewise lifted his head, nostrils flaring, taking in the scents. To his relief and joy, Amethyst spoke true: not a whiff of a bear, rabid or otherwise, was there. Turning to the mare, he shook his head. "I don't smell a thing--aside from the usual, of course," he told her, smiling. "Let's go, then!" The gray stag walked down to the meadow, a new spring to his step.

Amethyst bobbed her head, breaking into a smooth jog to catch up to the stag. Slowing, she walked next to him, her body relaxing. There was nothing to be scared of. No bear, Rainbow Bridge was now peaceful and tranquil as it once was.
She shook her brown, her mane jaunting into towards the sky wildly. She kicked her heels into a buck, grinning. As her hindlegs touched the earth, she spurted away at a smooth gallop, the rhythm of her four-beat dancing steadily in her mind.

[[ I'm sorry I took soo incredibly long to reply. *slaps self* ]]
Cantering sedately behind the mare, Malakyte smiled as she lifted her hindquarters into the air, rejoicing with the sheer joy of Spring. For he could feel it on the wind, now; the smell of budding plants and grass stems poking up. Pulling up beside Amethyst, he leaped into the air, sailing on the breeze, then landed in stride. "Follow the leader!" he cried over the rushing wind whistling in his ears. "You first!" Laughing, the steed slowed his pace again, trailing just behind the fae.

ooc| No need to inflict self-harm. *Pats*
Delicate auds tipped towards Malakyte's voice, a grin slowly spreading across her face as she listened. "Yes sir!" she cried, her voice floating throughout Rainbow Bridge.
Her hooves drummed against the ground as she leant to the right, weaving through trees. She raced on, leaning to the left, her hide brushing against the rough surface of a tree. She performed a sharp turn to the right, galloping into the bushes. She set her eyes on a bush, the ground didn't seem slippery or muddy. Score! she thought, smirking to herself.
Pillars slowed to a canter, her banner swishing around as she took off, her neck nice and rounded. She closed her eyes, savouring the moment of airborne-ness. Her daydream was brought to a crashing reality as her hooves hit the ground. She took it in her stride, landing smoothly and continuing to dart through shrubs and small trees.

[[ Lol. Thanks. And I think the word you're looking for is soar, or flight. ]]
He dashed after her, his own legs pumping swiftly. Carefully he watched her haunches for a clue as to which direction she was going. But even with that, he was hard pressed to keep up with her needlepin turns. Suddenly a large bush loomed up before him; without thinking he took a long spot and soared over the obstacle, landing hard and galloping harder. Malakyte's lungs strained and his nostrils flared as he sought to keep up with the trim mare. The pair seemed to run faster, ever faster, till they danced on the wind above the ground.

Amethyst continued to skim against the trees, her pillars eventually growing tired of the sudden turns, they were taking the strain where she leant in. Slowling to a dancing two-beat, she slid on her hooves, turning around to face Malakyte.
"I think it's your turn!" she grinned, nudging his nose softly. She lowered her neck to towards her chest, prancing on the tip of her hooves. Her rest had been short, but it had been enough to let her gain her breath again.

Reluctant though he was to admit it, the run had been tiring. It felt good to let his muscles be still. But when Amethyst touched him, he felt fire run through him again. Nodding amiably, the stag set out an easy walk, allowing his body to rest a bit more.
Soon that got boring--he got bored pretty easily. Without warning he sprang into a quick canter, casting an amused glance back at the mare. Mud was churned up and flew into the trees as his slender legs moved like pistons across the ground. With a leap he emerged back into the main field, bursting through the foliage. Leaves slipped across the sleek gray back as Malakyte pounded on, rejoicing in his freedom.

Ashen enchantress followed behind the stag a few paces behind, letting her muscles relax. She tossed her crown as Malakyte broke into a swift three-beat, mud flying in all directions. Swerving to the side, she tried to dodge the thick moist dirt. "Malakyte!" she cried, not knowing whether to cry or laugh as the mud flew directly onto her once-clean coat, giving her unusual brown markings.
She tossed her head again, springing off the uneven ground and soaring over some foliage. She followed him back into the field, gaining speed and racing after him. She pushed her legs harder, concentrating on the pounding sound of hooves as she ran beside him, covered in mud and happy.
